Hazardous Materials Management in your community can save tax $$!!!

The City of Regina in Saskatchewan, Canada, has a very unique paint collection and recycling program called "Paint It Recycled!". Up until 2000 the program collected latex paint that had to be processed through expensive hazardous materials procedures.

To reduce escalating paint collection costs, the City of Regina introduced WASTE PAINT HARDENER™ to its management program. It used to cost US $440 per drum to dispose of waste paint. With WASTE PAINT HARDENER™ as a disposal mechanism, the cost has now been reduced to US $143.

Montgomery County, Maryland, USA, used to pay US $3.25 per can of latex paint for disposal. The first nine months of 2001, their Household Hazardous Waste facility paid US $383,000 for disposal of latex paint. In the same fiscal period of 2002, Montgomery county saw that expense drop down to US $263,000, simply by using WASTE PAINT HARDENER™. A 69% saving!

By encouraging consumers to purchase WASTE PAINT HARDENER™ at local paint stores, both communities have enjoyed even greater reduction in the cost of paint disposal.

Call your municipality to set up a similar program. Get the paint and hardware stores involved, they will appreciate the increase of traffic WASTE PAINT HARDENER™ will bring into their stores.
